About Our Founder:
Emily Rand is the founder, organiser, and head chef behind RANDE Pop Up — which she has been running for over 11 years.
Known as “Randy” to her friends (and the inspiration behind the name), Emily’s culinary “training” began early — with an Easy Bake Oven at age six, complete with donut mix. By nine, she had already mastered eggs benedict.
Her education continued at the hands of a deeply food-obsessed family. Her grandmother Junie taught her how to knead proper sandwich bread. Isabel showed her the art of the perfect tart. Uncle Price introduced her to pasta alla norma, smoky (occasionally burnt) dhal, and even spear fishing. Her father contributed biscuits and gravy, while her mother brought lemon snow with crème anglaise into the mix.
And finally, Uncle Rick opened her eyes to true food fanaticism… and, of course, margaritas.
In 2019, Emily stepped into a very different kind of kitchen — spending two months training at Quintonil, one of the world’s best restaurants and holder of two Michelin stars. It was fast, exacting, and unforgiving; a place where every detail mattered and nothing slipped by unnoticed. The experience pushed her to her limits — and sharpened everything she thought she knew about cooking.
A classical training, in every sense of the word.
